Atlanta's International Dining Hub

Lots & Land in Chamblee, GA

Welcome to Chamblee, a DeKalb County city northeast of Atlanta known for Buford Highway's international dining, its Antique Row, and MARTA rail access.

Chamblee is a city in northern DeKalb County, Georgia, about fourteen miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. The 2020 census recorded a population of about 30,160, and the city has grown substantially through annexations to cover more than seven square miles, making it one of DeKalb County's larger and fastest-growing municipalities. The city's origins are rooted in dairies and railroads. The area that became Chamblee was largely dairy pasture before a junction of two railroads — what is now the Norfolk Southern line and the Roswell Railroad — made it a transportation crossroads. Chamblee was incorporated in 1908, and its history was later shaped by a military presence as well. Chamblee's modern identity is inseparable from Buford Highway, the corridor through the city that has become one of the Southeast's premier international dining destinations, often called the "United Nations of Restaurants." The Buford Highway Farmers Market and the city's Antique Row add to a vibrant commercial and culinary scene, celebrated each year at the Taste of Chamblee festival. Education is provided by the DeKalb County School District, with Chamblee High School and Chamblee Middle School located in the city. Transportation is a defining advantage: Chamblee has a station on MARTA's Gold Line, direct access to Interstates 285 and 85, and DeKalb-Peachtree Airport (PDK), the second-busiest airport in Georgia, within its limits. The city's population reflects a diverse, international community drawn by the dining corridor, transit access, and relative affordability within the close-in Atlanta suburbs. Redevelopment around downtown and the MARTA station has added new townhomes and condominiums alongside established mid-century neighborhoods. For homebuyers, Chamblee offers a blend of established neighborhoods, newer transit-oriented development, world-class dining, and a short, rail-connected commute to Atlanta — an increasingly sought-after combination in the metro's northeast corridor.
