Centerville is a city in Houston County, Georgia, in the central part of the state, sitting immediately adjacent to Warner Robins and within the larger Macon–Warner Robins Combined Statistical Area. It was incorporated on March 25, 1958, and developed as a residential community alongside the post-war growth of Warner Robins and Robins Air Force Base. As of the 2020 census, the city's population was 8,228. The city's economy and daily life are closely tied to Robins Air Force Base, which lies just east of Centerville in Warner Robins. The base and its Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex together form the largest single industrial complex in Georgia, employing tens of thousands of civilians in aircraft maintenance, logistics, and support roles. That employment base has long made Centerville and its neighbors attractive to military families, civilian defense workers, and the businesses that serve them. Robins grew from an Army Air Corps logistics installation established in the 1940s into one of the region's defining institutions, and its presence continues to shape housing demand, schools, and commerce across the Warner Robins area. Centerville's built environment is suburban and residential, with single-family homes making up most of its housing stock. Watson Boulevard serves as the city's commercial corridor, anchored by the Houston County Galleria and lined with shopping and dining, while Center Park at the city's core provides a playground, splash pad, walking trails, and picnic areas that anchor community life. The city maintains a quiet, bedroom-community character, distinct from the more densely built commercial areas of Warner Robins just to its east. Interstate 75 runs just west of the city, connecting Centerville to Macon, Atlanta, and the wider Southeast, while local routes tie it directly into Warner Robins and the gates of the air base. This positioning gives residents the conveniences of a larger metro area while living in a compact, largely residential community.
